All of Dogwood’s summer camp offerings are based around small-group camping experiences. Dogwood Acres strives to encourage our future generations by providing a greater comprehension of their relationship with God, a sense of accomplishment, an appreciation for their own and others’ abilities, and a new perspective on what they are capable of achieving. It is our goal to provide an environment in which individuals and groups can grow in the Christian faith, fellowship, and recreation, in an outdoor ministry setting.
This is a camp specifically designed for campers with high-functioning autism and Down’s syndrome to build social skills, independence, and spirituality. Our skilled staff, along with our partnership with Gulf Coast School for Autism, help campers experience a summer camp and enjoy time away from home.
Into Camp is designed for a camper’s first exposure to our outdoor ministry program, and is for students that have completed either the first or second grade. Come adventure with us through our forests and streams to explore God’s creations. This 4 days, 3 nights “taste” of camp life in our safe environment and caring community begins on Sunday afternoon and concludes on Wednesday afternoon. Campers must have completed grades 1 or 2.
Choose either the short 4 day Discovery Camp, or the longer 6 day Camp that offers children who have completed grades 3, 4 or 5 with the opportunity to embark on many Dogwood Acres traditions, Bible studies, and activities. Campers participate in outdoor discoveries such as a progressive Challenge Course, archery, land swing, the pool, campfires and a plethora of other opportunities. Campers must have completed grades 3, 4, or 5.
Why have a bedtime when you can stay up late?! Night Owl campers are able to participate in nighttime activities such as a glowing land swing, glow party, late night games, midnight snacks, Kelly Field games at night, and many more fun adventures. These middle schoolers are able to learn more about their relationship with Christ while being immersed in our outdoor ministry environment. For campers completing grades 6, 7, and 8.
High School Hangout
Unplug from everyday distractions to take in the wonders of Dogwood Acres. High Schoolers are encouraged to deepen their relationship with God, explore the great outdoors, and develop meaningful friendships. Not only will these campers participate in activities similar to Night Owl Camp, but they will also embark on a canoe trip away from the camp site. NEW THIS YEAR, in addition to the canoe trip, there will be one or two off-site excersions for the high schoolers. We are really excited and will share more details as soon as they are available!
