Pace Secondary School is a Leon County school serving middle and high school students with emotional and behavioral problems that have interfered with their ability to be successful in a regular school setting. At Pace Secondary School, the staff assists students in gaining the self-control necessary to perform well academically and behaviorally in a regular school setting. While students attend Pace Secondary School, they can earn credits towards a regular or special diploma based on their needs and their Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.). Students can remain at Pace Secondary School until they meet graduation requirement if they are unable to return to a regular school. Students who attend Pace Secondary School must qualify as an Exceptional Student Education student. It must be determined through the I.E.P. process that a placement at Pace Secondary School in a special day school delivery model will meet their individually determined goals and objectives. Students must be referred through the sending school’s intervention team and the I.E.P. process. The school is a day treatment program which provides intensive, individualized educational, behavioral and family services to adolescents with severe emotional and/or behavioral disorders.
