Panhandle Pioneer Settlement

Panhandle Pioneer Settlement

The Panhandle Pioneer Settlement has 18 historical buildings, all of which have been restored and are now open to the public.

There are animals for the children to enjoy as well as an old General Store. Anyone with a love for old tools will especially enjoy a tour of the Blacksmith Shop. Don't miss the old tractors in the Firehouse or the old piano in the Methodist Church. For those interested in old medical tools, be sure to visit Doctor Dowling's Office.

The Panhandle Pioneer Settlement strives to create unique educational experiences for all of our visitors, from schoolchildren and snowbirds to members of churches or civic groups.

Artist Workshops:
We offer a multitude of workshops that focus on traditional and classic crafts and skills. Workshops are held throughout the year on a rotating schedule depending on season and instructors. Most of our instructors are local craftsman but some come from far and wide to share their crafts. Topics include fireplace cooking, blacksmithing, quilting, syrup making, and a variety of other classes that teach you the ways of the past. Please call or email today for a current schedule.

Scouting:
A visit to the Settlement can enrich the experiences of both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, as well as help them earn merit badges. Our programs, which range from ecology and camping to history and crafts, can be customized to meet the needs of each troop, regardless of scouting level. Scout leaders are encouraged to call the Settlement office to arrange a one-day, overnight or weekend visit for their troops.
