The Tallahassee Police Department is excited to announce the return of the TAC Leadership Academy for 2026. This five-day program is designed to prepare high school students to be leaders in every phase of their lives.
The core principles of the TAC Leadership Academy are training, achievement, and confidence. Through these principles, students in the program will develop the confidence to overcome any situation.
This year’s academy will be held June 15 – 19, from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. daily. Drop-off and pick-up will be at the Tallahassee Police Department Headquarters.TPD will provide all other transportation.
The class will be limited to 20 students, making the selection process competitive. All applicants must be incoming 9th through 12th graders with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
During the free five-day program, students will participate in interactive classes, including decision-making, defining relationships, planning for the future, and becoming a leader. On the final day, students will attempt to solve a mock crime scene investigation, playing roles such as police officers, detectives, forensic technicians, dispatchers, and public information officers.
The program is inspired by TPD's Tactical Apprehension and Control (TAC) Team and is led by police officers, detectives, and other distinguished professionals within the department and the community.
