The Turning Pointe Series is The Tallahassee Ballet’s Summer Intensive program designed to provide in-depth professional training opportunities for the experienced dancer. Faculty and staff of TTB – along with special guest artists and master teachers – provide a full range of excellent dance training in ballet, repertoire, pointe, classical variations, contemporary, hip-hop, and body conditioning. Classes focus on proper alignment and posture of classical dance, with an emphasis on musicality, style, and expression. No auditions are required for the Turning Pointe Series. Dancers are expected to follow appropriate ballet class etiquette, including arriving at the studio at least 15 minutes prior to class and being fully prepared to begin at the start of class. Female dancers must wear black leotards, pink tights, and proper ballet slippers and/or pointe shoes (if appropriate). Hair must be in a neatly secured style. Males must wear white/black t-shirts, black tights, and black ballet slippers.
These Workshop sessions allow students to maintain and increase strength over the Summer holiday while advancing technique, confidence, and artistry in order to prepare for the 2024-25 year. Dancers will be provided Ballet Technique, Conditioning, Pointe or Pre-Pointe, Variations and Contemporary/Jazz classes as well as short seminars to discuss topics such as the History of Dance! By invitation only. Please contact School Director, Kara Griffin at kara@tallahasseeballet.org for placement suggestions. Ages (11+) and Workshops (9+).
