New Worlds Reading Initiative

New Worlds Reading is Florida’s free home literacy program for eligible VPK through 5th-grade students who are not yet meeting grade-level expectations in reading.

Eligible children receive nine free books during each school year, along with reading activities and resources for families. Books are selected based on each child’s interests and are available in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole and braille.

Once an eligible child is enrolled, they remain enrolled through 5th grade, even if their reading skills improve. There is no income requirement to participate. Families who are unsure whether their child qualifies are encouraged to apply, and the program will verify eligibility using Florida education records.
