Florida Farm to School Essay Contest

The Florida Farm to School Essay Contest gives Florida high school students an opportunity to share their ideas about agriculture, nutrition, locally grown food and the role farmers play in their communities.

The contest is open to Florida students in grades 9-12, including students in public, private and charter schools as well as virtual and homeschool students. Entries are judged on understanding of the topic, creativity, effectiveness, literary style, grammar and spelling.

During the most recent contest cycle, students submitted essays of 500-800 words and competed for scholarships of $3,000 for first place, $2,000 for second place and $1,000 for third place. Winners were also recognized at the Florida Farm to School Conference.
