The Will McLean Foundation offers educational scholarships to Florida residents pursuing postsecondary education or training while demonstrating an interest in Florida folk music, folklore and the arts.
Scholarships may be used for four-year or two-year degree programs, technical programs and other eligible educational programs approved by the State of Florida. Students must attend a school or program in Florida.
Applicants should be in good academic standing, demonstrate musical talent and show an interest or connection to Florida folk music or folklore. Preference is given to students pursuing studies that will have a positive social impact and give back to the community; applicants do not have to major in music.
Scholarship recipients must maintain a 3.0 overall GPA or satisfactory academic progress according to their program requirements. Recipients are also expected to complete at least 20 hours of volunteer service each year at approved Florida folk festivals, presentations, youth music programs or Will McLean Foundation events.
The 2026 scholarship application period is closed. Students should check the Foundation’s website for information about the next scholarship cycle.
