Theatre Tallahassee is proud to announce the launch of its year-round After-School Youth Education Program beginning August 2026. For the first semester there will be one class per grade level cohort, regardless of experience. Future semesters will offer advanced class options.
All classes are offered on a weekly basis after school. Students meet once per week in grade-level cohorts, ensuring instruction is developmentally appropriate and peer-focused.
What Students Learn
Each class session integrates three pillars of theatrical training:
● Acting — scene work, monologues, character development, improvisation, emotional intelligence, script analysis, and memorization techniques
● Music / Musical Theatre — vocal technique, performance confidence, and storytelling through song
● Dance — movement, body awareness, choreography, and physical expression
Beginning students build essential foundations — projection, articulation, stage presence, and conquering stage fright. More experienced students explore advanced technique through mood-shifts, emotional intelligence, inflection, and nuanced character work. The goal is simple: the more tools in an actor’s “bag of tricks,” the stronger the performer.
Classes are highly interactive, energetic, and structured around teamwork. Students work in ensembles, learn to give and receive feedback, and discover how collaboration makes every performance stronger.
The semester culminates in an end-of-semester showcase, where every student performs for family and friends — a celebration of the hard work, growth, and artistry developed throughout the semester.
