The Tallahassee Fire Department Cadet Program gives local youth ages 14-18 an opportunity to explore careers in fire and emergency services while developing leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and practical skills.
Cadets meet one Sunday each month from 1-5 p.m. at the Tallahassee Fire Department Training Division. Classes are taught by TFD firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics and include scenario-based instruction and light physical training.
Training may include hose line and ladder use, search and rescue, forcible entry, vehicle extrication, rappelling and knots, emergency medical services, and CPR. Cadets may also have opportunities to ride along with TFD personnel and participate in community service events.
There is no cost to participate. Contact the Tallahassee Fire Department for current application and enrollment information.
