The LIGHT peer education program is designed to increase students’ knowledge, skills, and behaviors associated with avoiding unintended pregnancies, HIV, STDs, and other health issues. It also seeks to create a climate that supports healthy decision-making and advocacy skills among young people while building a pipeline to leadership. This group of students will be selected to be the LIGHTs within their schools and beacons of honest and accurate sexual health information. When their peers are afraid to speak to an adult, the LIGHTs will be able to provide resources.
