Special Olympics Florida Volunteering

Special Olympics Florida relies on thousands of volunteers each year to provide sports, competitions, programs, and events for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Individuals and groups can volunteer at the local, regional, and statewide level.

Volunteer opportunities range from one-time event assistance to ongoing roles such as coaching, mentoring, health programs, fundraising, administrative support, internships, competition support, and other specialized positions. Some opportunities require specific skills or a longer commitment, while others are designed for day-of-event volunteers.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome. General volunteers must be at least 15 years old unless accompanied by an adult. Assistant coaches and sports volunteers must be at least 16, and head coaches must be at least 18. Additional screening and training requirements apply to volunteers who work directly with athletes or serve in positions of authority.
