Pageant's Miraculous Journey is the true story of a remarkable foxhound named, "Pageant," who made a perilous, nearly 40 mile trip from Thomasville to his home at Live Oak Plantation in Florida. He arrived safely at home on Easter Sunday morning. A member of the Live Oak Hounds Hunt, Catherine Ledyard wrote a wonderful children's book, with illustrations by Beth Secor, recounting Pageant's journey and she will delight us with a reading of the book here at Pebble Hill Plantation on Sunday, October 27th at 2 p.m. Making a special appearance will be a hound from the award-winning Live Oak pack. Members of the Live Oak Hounds Hunt and Hunt staff will share the history and traditions of foxhunting. Pebble Hill's last mistress, Elisabeth "Pansy" Ireland Poe, was an avid foxhunter and kept her own pack of hounds. Also on site for the event will be Thomasville Humane with pet adoptions and the Live Oak Hounds Pony Club. There will also be craft activities for children. The event is free to the public and refreshments will be available for purchase.
Dogs on leashes are welcome.
