Mission San Luis Blacksmithing Workshop

Mission San Luis offers several workshops per month showcasing trades and crafts from the 17th century. Workshop slots are limited and pre-registration is required. Call 850.245.6406 to register.

In the Introduction to Blacksmithing workshop you learn how to build a fire in a Spanish style forge, as well as fire and hammer techniques. Participant will produce one take-home item. On the first Saturday of the month.

Class Size: 2 participants

Ages: 13 and up (Under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian)

Requirements: Long pants, closed toe shoes, and clothing made of natural (non-synthetic) fibers such as cotton or linen. Eye protection is necessary and safety glasses will be provided. Avoid wearing contact lenses.
