Pebble Hill Plantation will join in the nationwide celebration of Take a Child Outside Week by hosting a free, family-friendly outdoor program at the Pebble Hill Learning Center.
Held annually from September 24–30, Take a Child Outside Week encourages children to engage in unstructured outdoor play while fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural environment. The event at Pebble Hill will feature nature-themed activities, games, and hands-on exploration designed to spark curiosity and creativity.
Take a Child Outside Week celebrates opportunities for children to get outdoors and develop a better understanding of the environment in which they live. We encourage families to come experience the joy of exploring nature together. The benefits of outdoor play are well-documented—spending time in nature can reduce stress and anxiety, improve cognitive abilities, and inspire creativity.
This year’s event draws inspiration from Richard Louv’s influential book Last Child in the Woods.
Free admission is for the program, all materials, and Grounds tour access. Main House tours are not included.
